Dear APAPU members and friends,
The Asia-Pacific Association of Pediatric Urology (APAPU) is returning to the Philippines. Our 2nd meeting in 2000 was held here in Manila and now on our 11th year, our annual conference will be held on Nov. 24 - 27, 2009 in conjunction with the Philippine Urological Association (PUA) and the East Asia Society of Endourology (EASE) and will showcase the state of the art that our organizations have to offer in our respective fields.
We will be holding simultaneous sessions and joint plenaries that will interest many of us. Our scientific/organizing committee, headed by Drs Carlos Torres and Nikko Magsanoc, is lining up an exceptional array of topics and speakers, highlights of which are pediatric urologic oncology, reconstruction of the lower urinary tract and the state of the art in vesicoureteral reflux. We will be coming up with a scientific schedule that will most likely compress our program to a 3 day event that will fall within the confines of the convention dates.
As you know, we have had problems with scheduling as it will fall around the Thanksgiving holidays for our American friends. Unfortunately, we tried to adjust forward and backward but it produced conflicts with our Asian counterparts including venue availability and therefore left us with this dates as the only feasible one. We will be as flexible as we can in order to accommodate our members and speakers.
We will keep you posted with updates regularly. In the meantime, mark those dates on your calendars and we promise the Filipino hospitality and the Pearl of the Pacific that the Philippines is known worldwide.

Aloha & Mabuhay
APAPU is now ten years
old. We have seen the growth of Pediatric Urology in leaps and bounds
from the East and from the West and together with our adult counterparts
developed cutting edge technology and innovative techniques in the care
of children with urologic problems. Our organization has bridged oceans
and continents and succeeded in bringing to the Asia- Pacific the best
and the brightest minds in Pediatric Urology. From our very first meeting
in Beijing with the Great Wall as background to the shores of Waikiki
Beach, we gathered to share experience and knowledge and most of all
rekindle the camaraderie among our Asian neighbors.
Under the leadership of our chairman of the organization committee, Ron Sutherland, we have prepared a very good balance of academic and social events that will provide us with a very good learning and sharing experience. Our theme of managing complications is very timely and will be very relevant to our everyday practice. All of these, is the reason for the very existence of APAPU and I enjoin you to come to Hawaii and support our organization. Help and make it grow. Our future is in your hands.

Welcome to our Web-site of Asia Pacific Association of Pedaitric Urologists(APAPU).
Pediatric urology had been a part of general urology or pediatric surgery, and now it is recognized as a attractive subsupecialty. In Asian countries there is big population of child, and pediatric urology is one of the most important clinical field. At present, APAPU is small society, but we expect this society is getting more progressed in near future. We hope many people come to attend our annual scientific meeting to make your idea and technique updated and to exchange our knowledge and clinical experience in common problems like as VUR, hydronephrosis, UTI, hypospadias, inter sex so on. I believe that high QOL of children in your own country is directly linked your clinical advancement.
We are looking forward to seeing many of you at the Meeting.
We recommend you to check periodically the schedule of annual meeting and other information by this web-site.
